Young architects awarded abroad

As we previously posted, the Portuguese Architects Association (Ordem dos Arquitectos), joined a group young architects to present their recent achievements abroad. The session was hosted last friday at the MUDE Design Museum by Cristina Veríssimo and commented by Jorge Spencer, curiously both former teachers of ours from the university.

The young and gifted João Prates Ruivo, now working in Athens, presented his winning scheme for the UPTO35 competition. Ivo Henriques and Florencia Grieco, from Barcelona, showed the awarded renovation of their own office. Nuno Valentim amazed the audience with his cirurgical design for a jesuit chapel in Oporto, that won an ENOR award.

Lecture at FA-UTL

AEFA, FA-UTL’s students association is hosting a cycle of lectures with the theme “Sustainability - new practice or a rediscover of tradition”.

EXTRASTUDIO will present their lecture tomorrow, 21st April 2010, in auditorium 23 at 3pm, followed by João Santa-Rita.

Greenbuildings again

The ‘Green Buildings’ exhibit, that features the organic concrete, is now at the Ordem dos Arquitectos [Portuguese Architects Association] gallery from 13th of July to the 31st of August. Tonight at 7 pm a debate with Plano B, Ventura Trindade, Alberto Laje & Paola Monzio and e-studio will follow presentations of the projects of these five studios.

This projects, selected from ‘Casa da Vizinha’, a showcase of ecological efficient architecture, were first presented in March at the Coimbra’s Water Museum.

e-studio will present next Monday, April 27th, a lecture at the ‘Conference on Structure, Innovation and Technology in Architecture ‘ at the Architecture School of Minho University. Rui Furtado, the structural engineer of Souto de Moura’s Guimarães stadium, Francisco Vieira de Campos and Cristina Guedes, from the office Menos é Mais were also invited. (more…)
