Cafe and shop in Setúbal open!
The studio was commissioned to create a concept for a shop for portuguese delicacies, that would also work as coffee-shop. To follow these two functions, a unique space was required, that could be as extraordinary as the products the client was proposing to sell, and as cosy as a neighborhood cafe.
The construction works started with the opening of the big shop window, that exposed the coffee-shop to the square, as a preview for the future terrace. For the products display, new shelves were carved on the thick exterior walls.
The bar, in masonry, divides the working areas from the public space. In the ceiling, laser cut plywood panels, duplicate the pattern of the counter tiled walls.
The furniture is composed by a set of hardwood chairs from the old assembly room of the Setúbal Fish Industry Union, together with tables with marble tops from Alentejo.
